Alex Eala

Alexandra “Alex” Eala is a Filipino professional tennis player whose rise has rewritten the record book for Philippine tennis.

Born in Quezon City and developed at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca, Eala progressed from junior Grand Slam champion to WTA contender through a steady climb on the professional circuit.

Her breakthrough accelerated dramatically in 2025, when she reached the Miami Open semifinals after defeating multiple Top 10 opponents, including Madison Keys and Iga Swiatek. She later reached her first WTA Tour final at Eastbourne and won the Guadalajara WTA 125.

In 2026, Eala took another major step forward. She won Birmingham, reached the fourth round at Wimbledon and captured her first WTA Tour title in Washington, becoming the first Filipina to win a tour-level singles title and subsequently breaking into the world’s Top 20.
