Desirae Krawczyk + Alex Eala: A Doubles Partnership Worth Watching?
Watching Desirae Krawczyk at the 2026 US Open got us thinking.
Her women’s doubles campaign alongside Australia’s left-handed Storm Hunter has come to an end. The pair fell to Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend in a tight third-round battle, 7–6(6), 6–4.
But watching Krawczyk play alongside another left-hander raised an interesting question.
How about another lefty next time?
Alexandra Eala.
Now that would be an interesting doubles partnership.
Desirae Krawczyk: Four Grand Slams and Counting
Krawczyk is no ordinary doubles player.
The American has established herself among the accomplished doubles specialists on the professional tour, with four Grand Slam mixed-doubles championships.
Her major titles include Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open.
She has also competed in a women’s doubles Grand Slam final, reaching the 2020 Roland Garros championship match with Alexa Guarachi.
That experience could make her an intriguing partner for a younger player continuing to develop on the professional circuit.
And Eala certainly fits that description.
Why Alexandra Eala?
Alexandra Eala is one of the Philippines’ most promising tennis players.
A left-hander with a growing presence on the WTA Tour, she has already demonstrated her potential in both singles and doubles.
Eala won two junior Grand Slam doubles titles, partnering Priska Nugroho at the 2020 Australian Open and Oksana Selekhmeteva at the 2021 Roland Garros.
Those junior achievements are not the same as professional Grand Slam titles.
But they show that doubles has been part of her development.
Now imagine combining that experience with Krawczyk’s years of competing at the highest levels of professional doubles.
Experience meets emerging talent.
It would certainly be worth watching.
Two Left-Handers, One Partnership?
There is another reason this possible combination caught our attention.
Both players are left-handed.
Watching Krawczyk alongside Storm Hunter at the US Open made us wonder what a partnership with Eala might look like.
Two left-handers could offer interesting serving angles and different tactical possibilities.
Of course, sharing the same playing hand does not automatically guarantee success.
Doubles requires communication, positioning, movement and an understanding of each other’s strengths.
But the possibilities are intriguing.
Krawczyk’s experience could complement Eala’s developing professional game.
And perhaps playing alongside a four-time Grand Slam mixed-doubles champion could help Eala gain another level of experience.
Filipino Roots: Another Connection
Krawczyk is American, but there’s a Filipino connection many tennis fans may not know.
Her mother is Filipino.
That gives Krawczyk Filipino heritage alongside her Polish roots through her father.
Eala, meanwhile, represents the Philippines and has become one of the country’s most recognizable rising tennis stars.
Put them together, and we would have two players with Filipino roots competing on the same side of the net.
Imagine the Filipino supporters in the stands.
Pansit and adobo party, anyone? 🇵🇭
The cultural connection would make the partnership especially interesting for Filipino tennis fans.
But beyond the shared heritage, the real question remains whether their games could work well together.
Would You Watch Krawczyk and Eala?
Two players with Filipino roots.
One established doubles specialist with Grand Slam experience.
One of the Philippines’ biggest rising tennis stars.
Both left-handed.
Desirae Krawczyk + Alex Eala.
A crazy idea?
Maybe.
But it’s a doubles partnership we’d certainly like to see.
And who knows? Perhaps one day they’ll even compete together at a tournament in the United States.
Oh boy… 😂
Would you watch Eala and Krawczyk play doubles together?
